THIS EVENT IS CREATED FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN HIKING AT TURKEY RUN STATE PARK BEFORE!

Join International Friendships for a hiking event at Turkey Run State Park in Indiana on Saturday, May 4th. This is one of the most beautiful parks in the area and spring is a great time to experience it! After picking up participants at various locations around campus, our caravan of vehicles will leave the Orchard Downs South Laundry at 10:00 AM (CST). We will gather near the Middle Shelter in the park’s lower picnic area, which is just west of the Nature Center at 8218 Park Rd, Marshall, Indiana 47859. There are wooden steps that access that lower wooded picnic area.

A quick picnic lunch will be provided by IFI before we hike and it will include some vegetarian options. The cost of the trip is $15 per person. Children up to age 10 are $10. There is no charge for the drivers. Payment is in exact cash only on the day of the trip (no credit or debit cards or online payment). We will email you with the transportation details the day before the trip. If you are driving your own car, we need to know that. You must sign up and include any family members attending. If you sign up, please attend. Friends are welcome, but they must each sign up for the event themselves on IFI’s website at uiuc.ifiusa.org (Do not sign up using just the URL – use only the website address to sign up).

Dress accordingly to the weather report for that day. Wear shoes that can get dirty and wet on the trails. Most trails are too difficult for children under 6 years of age. If your young children attend, you must supervise them carefully. Bathrooms are near the picnic area and also in the nature center. Even if you are not wanting to hike, the park and nature center will be a beautiful place to enjoy!

This event might fill up quickly because IFI’s transportation space is limited. There will still be room for those providing their own transportation. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to Turkey Run. If you sign up, please attend. It will deprive others of the opportunity if you cancel at the last moment.
