On Saturday, February 14th, IFI will visit the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield, Illinois. We will also visit other sites of interest in Springfield.

*

The museum is a world-class one that masterfully tells the story of a turning point period of time in US history, centered around one of nation’s best known presidents, Abraham Lincoln. Learn about how a self-educated young man, who was born in a one-room log cabin, became a lawyer and, eventually, was elected President of the United States! Uncover the tragic social injustices in America’s early development. Discover how President Lincoln, during the four agonizing bloody years of the American Civil War, turned a nation toward a new day, abolished the institution of slavery, and preserved the union of all of its 36 states. Learn about the principles and faith that guided his path.

*

We also hope to have enough time to tour the State Capital of Illinois, as well as Abraham Lincoln’s actual home a few blocks from the museum. He and his family lived there prior to the beginning of his presidency in 1860. Most of the furnishings are original.

*

There will be transportation provided by IFI, but seating is limited. Sign-up is required by Thursday at noon, February 12th. Sign up only if you are positive that you will attend. Bring your lunch or buy lunch in the museum restaurant. IFI will provide bottled water and late afternoon snacks.

*

The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-15. Payment is cash only – no cards or digital currency. Children 4 years old and under are free, but they must have an approved car seat if riding in IFI’s transportation. Children must be well supervised by their parent(s).
