Join with IFI friends for a trip to the Amish area in Arthur, Illinois, on May 18th! The Amish have resisted modern culture and advancements in order to preserve close family ties and the conservative values of their religion. See Amish buggies pulled by horses and take in the beautiful scenery among the many Amish farmsteads! We will be enjoying their annual Strawberry Jam Festival in the village of Arthur. Take some extra cash if you want to buy Amish items. Some Amish do not accept credit cards. Lunch will be a country buffet style meal at Yoder’s Kitchen Restaurant. Then we will tour the Illinois Amish Heritage Center. At the Center we will enter several original Amish homes and historical buildings that have been moved and clustered there to tell the story of the Amish in central Illinois.

.

The cost for the transportation, buffet meal, and the Amish Heritage Center is $30 per person. Children 10 years old and under are $20. Payment is cash only (no credit cards or online payment). Also bring cash for any shopping that you might want to do. List any family members attending with you when you sign up. Friends must sign up for themselves using the IFI website at uiuc.ifiusa.orgĀ  We look forward to having a great day in Amish country with you!
